Brie and Pear Holiday Appetizer
I’m always a fan of the combination of fruit and cheese whether it’s a sharp cheddar and apple or a creamy brie with sliced pear.
And when I think of elegant yet easy Christmas appetizers, I go straight for the brie! It’s a mild creamy cheese that melts beautifully and is just as good cold on a Christmas tree cheese board as it is baked until warm and gooey (like in this baked brie with honey or these bacon brie bites).
For this brie and pear appetizer, the brie and pear are wrapped in a crescent roll, brushed with an egg wash, then baked until golden. Each little pocket is soft and fluffy on the outside, sweet and creamy on the inside then drizzled with honey to complete the entire package!
Why You’ll Love These Brie Pear Bites
- Just 5 ingredients – There’s nothing fussy about the ingredients. Everything can be found at your local grocery store if you don’t already have it on hand.
- Bite-size – These little portable pear and brie appetizers are the perfect sample size. This recipe yields 16 servings, which is great for serving a crowd, especially a crowd that wants to sample a bit of everything!
- Quick and Easy – An entire batch of this brie bites appetizer is ready in 30 minutes. That’s what I call easy entertaining!

Ingredient notes
- Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – These come in a fun little tube that the kids will get a kick out of opening and adults will have nightmares about. You’ll have eight triangles that will be sliced in half for a total of 16 bites. You could technically make these with our homemade crescent rolls dough as well but there’s no need – the store-bought ones are great!
- Brie Cheese – a wedge or round of brie will work since you’ll be cutting it into small bite sized slices.
- Pear – Use a crisp, sweet pear. One that isn’t too ripe or it may be a bit mushy. Bartlett pears are always a great choice. Bosc is another one.
- Egg – This is brushed on top of the rolls so they aren’t so pale once baked. It gives the pear and brie appetizer a beautiful golden color and a bit of a sheen. It’s not technically required but does make these prettier!
- Honey – I always prefer to use a high-quality honey (ideally a raw and unfiltered one) since you’ll actually taste the honey in these!
Switch It Up
While I love these with the brie and pear combination, you could switch up the cheese and fruit for other delicious combinations as well. Another personal favorite is gouda and apple (or gouda + pear or brie + apple). Just avoid super savory cheeses like cheddar or Swiss cheese.
How to make these brie and pear appetizers
If you’ve ever made anything with crescent rolls (like cheesy pigs in a blanket or homemade pizza rolls), this process will probably be very similar. It’s super easy, which is why these are one of my favorite Christmas snacks!
1 – Prep the crescent rolls
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent any food from sticking to the pan.
Next, separate out each crescent roll from the tube and slice each piece in half. They should make 16 small triangles total after they are cut in half. This is easily the trickiest part of making these, so I’ve included photos below so you can see what the triangles should look like.
2 – Top the Crescent Rolls
Put a piece of the thinly sliced pear on top of the larger side of on the triangles of the crescent roll. Then add the brie right on top of the pear.
I’ve tried it with the pear on the top as well, but I prefer the brie on top of the pear.
3 – Roll the Brie Pear Bites
Starting with the larger side of the crescent roll, carefully roll up the crescent roll until it’s wrapped around the pear and brie.
Pinch the edges together to completely close the crescent around the cheese and pear. This will keep the cheese from all melting out when this pear and brie appetizer is baked.
4 – Bake the Brie Pear Bites
Place all of the rolled up crescent roll bites on the parchment lined baking sheet then brush the outside of the crescent roll with the beaten egg. This will help give it a nice golden color once baked.
Then put the stuffed crescent rolls into the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
5 – Serve the brie and pear crescent rolls
After the crescent rolls are a golden brown color, remove from the oven and immediately drizzle each one with honey.
Serve immediately while the cheese is still warm and gooey! They still taste good at room temperature but are my favorite while they’re nice and warm an the brie is all melty.
Tips & Storage Info
Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the crescent roll triangles in half.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top for an even cozier bite.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. Reheat by placing in a cold oven and preheating to 350. Let the brie bites warm up with the oven and they’ll be good and golden when the oven is preheated!
Prep the crescent rolls ahead of time and place in the refrigerator until ready to bake so that you can serve them pretty soon after they come out of the oven!
Recipe FAQs
Do you have to cut the wax rind off of the brie?
You don’t. It’s completely edible and helps to keep the shape of the brie while it’s baking. For these brie bites, you can cut it off if you want, but it’s totally not necessary!
How should I store leftovers?
Keep any leftovers of the pear and brie appetizer in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven, the microwave, or the air fryer.
