These make the perfect Halloween breakfast or treat for Halloween night! Both kids and adults will love the fluffiness and flavor of the cinnamon rolls making them the ultimate Halloween party snack!
One of my favorite things about the fall is all of the cute Halloween party food that people come up with. Things like witch hat cookies, Frankenstein Halloween pretzels, and more!
I always have a stock of the candy eyes just sitting around begging to be used, so I whipped up these cute Halloween cinnamon rolls using my viral TikTok cinnamon rolls recipe. And my boys loved them! I mean they love anything with candy eyeballs, but I promise they’re actually really good!
They may be my new favorite Halloween party food because whipping up a batch is about as simple as it gets! And no will ever know you didn’t just whip them up from scratch!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Easy – these are so much easier than homemade cinnamon rolls and still taste great! There’s a time and place for homemade and Halloween morning is not it!
- Festive – the addition of the candy eyes and sprinkles makes these super fun and festive, plus you can change up the colors to match any Halloween party themes!
- Cream cheese frosting – while the cinnamon rolls themselves may not be homemade, the cream cheese frosting is and it makes ALL the difference in these!
Ingredients
Ingredient notes
- Canned cinnamon rolls – These have to be actual cinnamon rolls, the ones that pull apart, not the regular Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (not Grands) that don’t roll out. I use Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls!
- Cream cheese – If you’re really in a hurry, you can skip the cream cheese frosting. However, I would suggest taking the extra time to make the cream cheese icing, it really takes these to the next level.
- Butter – You’ll need both melted and softened butter so make sure to read the instructions to prep the butter before you’re ready to make these!
- Halloween sprinkles – I used small candy eyes and regular Halloween sprinkles (jimmies) for these. Avoid the big balls or hard sprinkles because no one really wants to eat those!
How to make halloween cinnamon rolls
This Halloween cinnamon roll recipe will be pretty much the easiest cinnamon rolls you’ll ever make! Simply pop the can, add some toppings, bake, frost, and decorate!
1 – Prep the Cinnamon Rolls
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9×13 baking pan using a nonstick cooking spray or stick of butter.
Pop open the can of Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls and place them in a single layer into the prepared dish. You can set aside the icing cans for later when you’re making the cream cheese frosting.
Pour the cup of heavy cream over the cinnamon rolls in the pan, making sure to pour the cream all over including in the space in between the rolls so it can soak into the rolls!
Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter in a bowl until completely mixed. Once it’s mixed, pour the cinnamon sugar mixture over top of the cinnamon rolls, making sure to cover all of the rolls!
2 – Bake the Halloween Rolls
Cover the cinnamon rolls with foil tightly, making sure not to push the foil down onto the cinnamon roll toppings! Bake cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, keeping them covered the entire time so they don’t brown too early.
When the rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and set them aside to cool for a few minutes. Warm rolls are the best, but you want to make sure they cool a good amount before you add the icing or it’ll just melt right off!
Tip!
Don’t skip covering the cinnamon rolls! They need enough time to soak up all of the cream without burning! The normal instructions on the can will tell you to bake these for less time and without covering – follow the instructions at the bottom of this post instead!
3 – Make the Cream Cheese Frosting
While the rolls are baking, make the frosting. As I mentioned before, you can enjoy these cinnamon rolls with the included icing, but I prefer a partially homemade cream cheese frosting instead.
Add softened butter and four ounces of cream cheese to a medium-sized bowl. Whisk the softened butter and cream cheese until they are combined.
Mix in the two containers of frosting from the cans of cinnamon rolls. This will still give you that nice cinnamon roll frosting flavor without just tasting like the canned frosting.
Add powdered sugar and whisk until creamy. Then add a couple of drops of the orange (or whatever color you want) food coloring and mix until you get the colored you want.
Once it’s totally smooth, spread the frosting over the warm (not hot) cinnamon rolls, making sure to coat them completely!
4 – Decorate and Serve the Cinnamon Rolls
Last but not least, liberally sprinkle the top with Halloween sprinkles and candy eyes – you could even let your kids help you decorate them, it’s really the most fun part!
Once the cinnamon rolls are frosted, they’re ready to eat! You can either serve them warm immediately or let them sit a bit and enjoy later – but I personally prefer to eat them right away!
Like all cinnamon rolls, these are pretty rich! I personally love to serve them with milk on the side – these monster milks would be fun! Or you can just serve with regular juice or a Halloween punch, either way they’ll still be tasty!
How to Store These Cinnamon Rolls
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If you do refrigerate, I personally like to either let them sit out at room temperature for about 15-30 minutes to warm up or pop them in the oven for a few minutes.
