In a little under two months I’ll be running my very first 10K, the RunDisney Thor 10K at Disneyland. I’ve done 15+ half-marathons and one marathon but never a 10K. I’m excited to run a race that’s challenging but not nearly as much training as half-marathon training or marathon training requires.
Now that I’ll be attending the Thor Red Carpet premiere (more details to come soon) in October just a few short weeks before the 10K, I have even more incentive to get my butt in gear and moving, have to fit into that red carpet dress after all! Here’s the dress I ordered, sure hoping it fits!
My 10K Training Plan
Unlike when I shared my half-marathon training plan that I know works, this time I’m sharing my own personal 10K training plan rather than one I can guarantee will get you across the finish line. Like I said, this is my first 10K. I’m hoping this training plan gets me from start to finish but can’t tell you yet one or way or another. I’ll definitely give you an update after the race on whether I felt prepared or not with this training plan!
I put together my training plan using one from Hal Higdon with a few slight additions based on how hard I want to work, trips I already have planned, and days that I just know getting a run in will be impossible. It’s a great start for anyone who’s training for a 10K, and I’ve shared my own plan below and an editable version you can download and customize yourself at the very bottom.
It’s been a long time since I’ve done an actual race so wish me luck! I’m hoping running through Disney and being with a bunch of superheroes will make it even easier! And I do have the best running playlist after all. Now all I need to do is figure out which of these Thor inspired running outfits I should wear!
