For our 8th anniversary, I decided to put together some creative 8th anniversary gift ideas for him along with a little game, similar to my Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt that turned into such a fun date night.

Richie and I got married on December 28th, 2006. It was the right decision then. Now looking back, however, I kind of wish we weren’t married right in the middle of the holidays. With everything else going on, we rarely celebrate our anniversary like it should be celebrated on the actual date. We celebrate plenty throughout the rest of the year but poor December 28th is like the forgotten holiday after Christmas and New Years. Add that to the fact that we’ve been at one of our parents’ houses for every Christmas since we’ve been married and yeah, anniversary celebrations are tough.
This year I decided to surprise my husband and celebrate early, before we leave on our trip. Our marriage deserves to be celebrated right even if it is a couple of weeks early. I looked up the traditional and modern gifts for your 8th anniversary and used those four things – bronze, pottery, linen, and lace – to create a fun little scavenger hunt for him to find his gifts. I’ve missed our silly date nights since K was born, and I thought this would be a fun way to add a little bit of silly back into our post-baby relationship.
I started by adding a bronze vinyl heart to little linen bags. I’ll hide the clues inside of those around the house. I love the idea of using the little bags because I can also fill them with other fun treats like bronze colored chocolates. I’m also planning to leave him some other treats like lacy cookies on a red ceramic plate (it started as pottery right??) in case he gets hungry along the way.
Some of the clues just direct my husband to the next clue while others come along with a little gift. Some of my gifts include a bronze colored journal with a special handwritten note inside, some bronze candles, and even a gift card to a paint your own pottery place!
Last but not least, the final clue will lead to me. And then we can celebrate our anniversary in style with candles, chocolates, and a little red lace. Sounds like the perfect anniversary gift to me.
I wrote the scavenger hunt clues so that this would work for anyone celebrating their 8th anniversary, not just us. You can download the free printable cards by filling out the pink form below. Then all you have to do is print, cut, and place the cards around the house.
