Disneyland Halloween Food Guide
I challenged myself (plus my sister, brother, and nephew) to try ALLLLLL the seasonal foods available at Disneyland Resort this year for Halloween Time, including the treats at Grand Californian Hotel.
It took us just over two days and a lot of walking, but we did it. And I’m here to tell you which Disneyland Halloween food items – both Disneyland Halloween treats and drinks you have to try and which ones you can skip.
And buckle up because Disney is offering a TON of new Halloween food items this year! Plus all sorts of other Disneyland Halloween Time fun!
If you want real reviews from people who really ate the food, then this is the Disneyland Halloween foodie guide for you. Just be warned, these are opinions so if someone else disagrees, that’s their right. We don’t all agree on food so if you think something sounds good, feel free to try it anyway even if it’s on my skip list.
What Do the Ratings Mean?
This year I’ve added ratings to each of the items that we tried in the parks. In general if something is a 7 or higher, it’s totally worth getting. If it’s a 5 or higher, it’s worth getting if it’s something you really like (like pumpkin for instance).
If it’s below a 5, I personally wouldn’t get it with so many other Disneyland food items to try! And the few things that are a 3 or lower, don’t say I didn’t warn you if you decide not to get them!
Top 10 Disneyland Halloween Treats & Eats
Everyone always asks me what are the foods that I have to try during the Halloween season at Disneyland (and Disney California Adventure) so I’m going to start with that quick list of what I consider the best of the best and my must-try list!
- Transylvania Transfusion at Harbor Galley
- Boo-gogi Sandwich with Corn Cheese Soup from Jolly Holiday Bakery
- Ghost Pepper Turkey Leg from outdoor vending carts
- Garlic Cream Cheese Bread from outdoor vending carts
- Garlic Cheesy Brat from Edelweiss Snacks
- Spicy Meat Pizza from Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta
- Apple Pie Caramel Apple from various bakeries
- Taro Bread Pudding from Aunt Cass Cafe
- Poison Apple Churro from Senor Buzz Churros
- Oogie Boogie Cookie or Gingerbread Cookie from GCH Cart
Read the entire post for details on each of these items plus my reviews (and pictures!) on all of the food available in both Disney parks in California!
Oh and also, this does not include the speciality items only available during Oogie Boogie Bash – you’ll have to read my Oogie Boogie Bash guide to see those!
Best Halloween Food at Disneyland Park
Okay now that we’ve gotten the top list out of the way, let’s get into all the goodies! This is a full list of all the Halloween food available at Disneyland Park and my thoughts on it all – starting with the good stuff.
Rest in Chocolate Sundae at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor
If you’re wanting ice cream, this is a great option during Disneyland Halloween time. It’s rocky road ice cream (or your choice of flavors – we got mint chocolate chip) topped with Oreo cookie crumbles, gummy worms, and a chocolate tombstone. All of that is served in a chocolate coated waffle bowl.
It’s simple, straightforward, and very tasty. But what basic bowl of ice cream bowl is not? It’s not particularly unique, but if you want ice cream, this gives you everything you want without some weird add-ons. Just watch out – the chocolate bowl melts quickly in the heat.
Rating 8/10
Transylvania Transfusion at Harbour Galley
This dark berry and cherry punch was easily our favorite drink out of the Halloween drinks, but that’s not hard considering how bad some of the drinks were this year.
That being said – this was actually delicious and we all highly recommend with one caveat. Disney chose to add ginger to the mixture and that ginger has a kick. When I asked the cast member about it, she said it’s made to bite back (like a vampire I guess).
So while this one is delicious, it may not be for the kids. I think my kids would love it without the ginger but the ginger really does hit the back of your throat enough that my boys would probably both say it’s too spicy.
Rating 9/10 (it would’ve been an easy 10 without the ginger)
The Pumpkin Stuff at Red Rose Taverne
I’ve always been a big fan of grey stuff (you can get a copycat grey stuff recipe here!) and the grave stuff they normally have for Halloween. They switched it up to be the pumpkin stuff this year and I hope it’s the only year they do it.
The grave stuff was one of my favorites – the pumpkin stuff is one of my least.
Rating 5/10
Autumnal Harvest Flatbread at red Rose Taverne
I really like all of the flavors that were included in this flatbread – butternut squash, mushrooms, and feta – but somehow this totally fell flat. No one in our group liked it enough to finish more than half of the flatbread and that’s saying something.
I’d skip this and go with something else if you’re looking for something savory!
Rating 4/10
Darth by Chocolate at Galactic Grill
Galactic Grill can be hit and miss with their parfaits, but I thought this one was a hit! A Star Wars inspired parfait full of layers of chocolate pudding, red velvet sponge cake, chocolate mousse, and crushed Oreos – everything worked well together plus it was cute!
Rating 8/10
Alien Buzz Macaron from Alien Pizza Planet
This macaron wasn’t quite as cute as some of the alien macarons in the past but it was definitely tastier. It looks like a Buzz alien and is filled with berries and cream – a great combination in pretty much all scenarios including this one.
None of the macarons are anywhere near as good as the raspberry rose macaron, another one on my best Disneyland food list!
Rating 7/10
Mickey Jack-O-Lantern Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery
I was really excited about this one because it’s so cute and Jolly Holiday normally makes really good macarons. But somehow year after year they make Halloween macarons that just aren’t great.
This year was no different with a super cute Mickey Jack-O-Lantern design but the filling just wasn’t our favorite. It probably would’ve been okay with just the caramel but the caramel and pumpkin together was a miss.
Rating 5/10
Spice Bundt Cake at Jolly Holiday Bakery
A few years back they did a chocolate bundt cake that was delicious. This year’s spiced bundt cake was just okay. The biggest problem was that the cake itself was dense and there was very little filling in the middle to give it the moisture it needed.
If they added more filling this would probably be a seven and worth trying but as it’s currently being made, it’s a five and not great.
Rating 5/10
Caramel Apple Cheesecake from Jolly Holiday Bakery
Disneyland continues to try to make mini cheesecakes and every year I’m highly disappointed by them. This year’s caramel apple cheesecake had somewhat of a grainy texture to the supposed to be smooth filling and the flavor just wasn’t there.
I’d skip this one for sure. There are much better things to eat.
Rating 3/10
Apple Almond Croissant from Jolly Holiday Bakery
There were mixed opinions on this one from our group of four who tried it. My nephew thought it was great. I thought it was good but not great (but I don’t love apples). And my sister thought it was good but wished it hadn’t been almond.
You can’t see it in my picture below but the inside is cut open and filled with apple filling and apple chunks – that’s what makes this an apple almond croissant!
So if you like almonds and you like apples, I’d say this is one to try to get something not quite as sweet and brightly colored as some of the other Halloween treats! And then try these apple pie cups because they’re delicious too!
Rating 7/10
Hazelnut Brownie Tart with Chocolate Frosting at Jolly Holiday Bakery
I was excited when I read the description of this because I thought it was going to be some sort of brownie tart but it’s not. It’s basically a pop-tart filled with chocolate filling and topped with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.
It’s okay but it’s not nearly as good as one of my favorite Disney World snacks, the tarts in Toy Story Land. Oh and they’re really big – definitely shareable!
Rating 6/10
Pumpkin Muffin from Jolly Holiday Bakery
If you like pumpkin muffins, this is really good one. If you don’t like pumpkin, you can probably skip it. But it’s moist, flavorful, and topped with a delicious cream cheese frosting.
It was one of my favorites a few years ago and I was excited to see it back. It’s definitely a nice option if you want something that’s sweet but not too sweet!
Rating 8/10
Boo-gogi toasted sandwich with corn cheese soup from jolly holiday bakery
My nephew’s literal reaction when he took a bite of this sandwich was holy wow. He almost went to the kitchen to find out the secret to making this so good.
The sandwich is filled with marinated beef, grilled onion, mozzarella, and kimchi aioli and the three people who tried it (I did not because of the onions) said it was easily one of the best things they tried our entire trip. And the corn cheese soup was the perfect addition.
The sandwich and soup combo together was one of the only things that got a perfect 10 from our crew. Definitely try this one out.
Rating 10/10
Blueberry Corn Dog from Little Red Wagon
Disney makes the best corn dogs so a corn dog topped with blueberry compote and bacon powdered sugar sounded pretty intriguing to me.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for us. I don’t know if it we just got a not great corn dog or what but it tasted different than the normal freshly dipped corn dogs and the whole thing just felt a bit soggy. Also, I never would’ve known it was a bacon powdered sugar if I didn’t read that description.
I’d go with a standard corn dog or a cheese stick instead!
Rating 6/10
Tangy Apple Mickey Beignets from Mint Julep Bar
Mickey beignets and a mint julep are always a good choice no matter what time of year you go. The big question is always do you go with the seasonal option (in this case tangy apple) or the regular ones.
I think either would be a good choice right now because honestly the tangy apple don’t really taste much like apple to me.
And either one would be good in the caramel dipping sauce that’s available right now and the sleeper hit of these options. So get a pack of beignets, dip them in caramel sauce, and wash them down with a mint julep!
Rating 8/10
Supernova Pretzel from Pretzel Cart near Star Tours
Disney’s filled pretzels are a must-try. My favorite are the cream cheese filled pretzels but I know other people love the jalapeno filled one
This particular supernova pretzel is for those jalapeno spice loving people because it’s that base topped with basically crumbled up Hot Cheetos. My siblings loved it and ate every bite.
Rating 8/10
Fantasyland Garlic Cheesy Brat from Edelweiss Snacks
One of my new favorite Disneyland snacks gets a protein upgrade with the addition of a brat to the cheesy bread. If you haven’t tried the cheesy garlic pretzel bread yet, it’s a must-try.
And if you want some added protein and want to pay an extra $5, the brat is a decent addition. Everyone else enjoyed this one as well though we were torn on whether to get the Halloween brat version or just the regular and save the money.
Rating 8/10 (with the brat – 10/10 without)
Alpine Almond Delight from Edelweiss Snacks
This one looked good, sounded good, and even smelled good. But unfortunately it was pretty flavorless, which made it not good at all. I’d skip it unless they fix something and add flavor!
Rating 5/10
Mickey Pumpkin Salted Dulce Cream Puff from Rancho Del Zocalo Restaurante
This was another one of those Disneyland Halloween treats that looked much better than it tasted. It was kind of soggy, flavorless, and just not great.
This was on our don’t waste your money on this list and there weren’t too many of those!
Rating 4/10
Iced Mexican Hot Chocolate from Rancho Del Zocalo Restaurante
This sounded so good, especially on a hot day. And I love frozen hot chocolate so I had really high hopes.
But it was weird. It was thicker kind of like a chocolate milkshake but on ice like a glass of chocolate milk. My brother described it as like a thin chocolate pudding.
Needless to say, we didn’t love it. I wanted either a chocolate milkshake or chocolate milk but not a combo of the two.
Rating 5/10
Embers Con Queso from Refreshment Corner
Hot Cheetos topped with nacho cheese and jalapeno coins. If you like those ingredients, you’ll love these. My brother did. If you don’t, you won’t. Simple enough.
Rating 8/10
Pumpkin Spice Fritters from Royal Street Veranda
These were really yummy when dipped in the cream cheese dipping sauce. Without the sauce, they were a bit dry. And either way, they didn’t taste much like pumpkin spice to me.
But if you’re in for dipping them in the frosting, these are worth trying! And there’s typically no line because I think people just forget this restaurant exists.
Rating 7/10
Graveyard Banana Funnel Cake from Stage Door Cafe
People love funnel cakes at Disney. I am not people. Neither are my family members apparently because this was not good and most funnel cakes I’ve had at Disney are not good.
A funnel cake should be fresh and crispy. This was soggy and then topped with more soggy stuff. The flavors on their own would’ve been find but on a soggy funnel cake, this was one of our least favorites out of everything we tried.
Rating 3/10
Strawberry Pie-Filled Beignets from Tiana’s Palace
Tiana’s Palace is one of the newest quick serve restaurants at Disneyland and while I think the food is good, I personally am not in love with the beignets. The regular lemon filled one is just okay.
This strawberry pie-filled one is better but still not my personal favorite. But the rest of our crew enjoyed it more than the lemon one – but not as much as the Mickey beignets at Mint Julep Bar. I thought the filling needed more flavor!
Rating 6/10
Monstropolis Float from Tropical Hideaway
My biggest problem with Tropical Hideaway is always that they don’t do mobile orders and the line is super long. So you have to decide whether their seasonal offerings are worth standing in line or not.
The verdict is still out on whether the Monstroplis Float is worth the wait. We really liked it but we didn’t like the thirty minute wait to get it so our opinions are a little soured. That being said, the combo of the pineapple and passion fruit is delicious – just know there will likely be a wait.
If there’s no wait, definitely try this one!
Rating 8/10
Daisy’s Goody-Goody Donuts at Cafe Daisy
This month’s flavor for Daisy’s donuts is apple cider and they’re pretty good, especially if you get them warm and fresh. They have nothing on fresh apple cider donuts from an apple orchard but they’ll do for donuts at a theme park!
Rating 7/10
Best Disney Halloween Food at California Adventure
Okay, enough about Disneyland Park! Some of my absolute favorite treats were actually only available in Disney’s California Adventure so make sure to take some time to eat there too!
We spent a few hours in DCA before Oogie Boogie Bash, and I wish we’d had more time to actually enjoy all the fun Halloween decorations, shows, and more!
Oogie Boogie Apple Lemonade at Smokejumpers
If you like kid-friendly drinks like flavored lemonades, Disneyland really knocked it out of the park this year. This Oogie Boogie apple lemonade reminds me of one I’ve tried before during some other event (can’t remember exactly when), and I’m really glad they brought it back.
It’s a little sweet, a little tart, and perfectly refreshing. Oh and of course, it comes with fun floating bobas – drink those through one of the large straws for not only a great drink, but a fun experience.
Rating 8/10
Taro Bread Pudding from Aunt Cass Cafe
I have yet to try a bad bread pudding from Aunt Cass Cafe (or the formerly named Pacific Wharf Cafe). They have it down to an art and this purple taro version was a really strong one. It’s not mushy, the flavor is subtle but there, and it really just worked well.
Rating 8/10
Spicy Meats Pizza from Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta
So as my brother put it, this is pretty much a meat lovers pizza with some sprinkles of spicy stuff on the crust. The description says it’s a mango-habanero sauce with spicy sausage, pepperoni, and chicken drizzled with ranch dressing but we really only got the spice on the crust.
Either way it was a tasty option when you’re craving something savory and want to stick with the spicy Halloween theme.
Rating 8/10
Pumpkin Bundt Cake from The Coffee House or Cappuccino Cart
There’s a new version of this for 2024 that is drizzled with dulce de leche and topped with cream cheese frosting. We didn’t get a chance to try it but if it’s anything like the one in the past (pictured below), it’s worth trying!
Rating 6/10
Jack Jack Shortbread Cookie from Num Num Cookies
If you’re going to get a cookie at Num Num cookies, get the actual Num Num cookie. Or make my copycat Num Num cookie. The Jack Jack shortbread Halloween one isn’t bad, it’s just messy, and not nearly as good at the Num Num cookie.
And when I say messy, I mean messy. The decorations on the outside melt and get all over the place if you don’t get it very fast and sometimes even when you do!
Rating 5/10
Witch’s Hat Sundae from Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream
This is another returning Halloween treat, and I can see why they brought it back. It’s a simple sundae full of delicious flavors like mint chocolate chip, hot fudge, and whipped cream all together.
And then it gets topped with a witch hat waffle cone – it’s a winner if you are looking for something other than just a standard ice cream cone! My only complaint is that when it’s hot out, the witch hat melts and makes a big mess!
Rating 8/10
Candy Corn Float from Clarabelle’s
This was a simple float that looked better than it tasted. I know what they were going for with the orange Fanta soda, yellow mango sorbet, and white whipped cream on top – but the flavors just didn’t combine that well. I would’ve preferred the Fanta with vanilla ice cream personally.
Rating 6/10
Lava Cake at Clarabelle’s
This one was interesting because it wasn’t available on mobile order for me ever and there’s no picture on the sign so people often forget it’s even an option.
But don’t sleep on this cake, just realize that what you’re getting isn’t really lava cake – it’s more just a regular chocolate cake served with a delicious berry (strawberry and raspberries) and vanilla ice cream. It was a hit with our entire group once we got over the no lava part.
Rating 8/10
Spicy Beef and Mozzarella Corn Dog from Corn Dog Castle
We tried this one last year and it was surprisingly good – much better than the blueberry version they’re serving at the Little Red Wagon this year.
If you want to mix up your corn dog choices this year and like spicy stuff, this one is worth trying out.
Rating 7/10
Fire Truck Slush at Cozy Cone 1
This was awful. Spit out and throw away awful.
I don’t need to say much else other than please don’t waste your money on this. I guess if you have to choose between this and the cucumber jalapeno lemonade, this is better than that but they’re both bad.
Rating 2/10
Ube Ice Cream from Cozy Cone 2
There are two different Halloween ice cream options available – an ube soft-serve with black sprinkles or an ube + vanilla swirl soft serve with black sprinkles We chose the all ube variety and were surprised by how much we liked it with its mild ube flavor.
Rating 8/10
Spicy Mac & Cheese Cone from Cozy Cone 3
If you like a little heat and already a fan of the mac and cheese cone from Cozy Cone Motel, then you’ll likely enjoy this one as well. I’m not a huge spicy person and it was too spicy for me but still probably only spice level mild or medium.
The flavors are good if you want spicy. If not, just stick with the regular mac and cheese cone.
Rating 7/10 (8 if you like spicy)
Cucumber Jalapeno Lemonade at Cozy Cone 4
I already mentioned this above but this was another drank one sip and couldn’t drink another drink. All four of us agreed this was just terrible.
It was one of the only things we tried that we gave a 1 so that should tell you something.
Rating 1/10
Cozy Corn from Cozy Cone 5
This is another returning favorite from Disneyland Halloween Times in the past and a great choice. There are two options – corn rolled in a choice of cotija (kind of like elote) or in spicy crushed Hot Cheetos.
They’re both delicious and highly recommended!
Rating 8/10
Cucumber Mint Lemonade from Hollywood Lounge
Can I petition Disney to stop trying out cucumber lemonades? They’re not my favorite, even if this one did include mint, making it at least palatable for me. I’d much rather they go back to the strawberry lavender lemonade they made a few years back!
My other family members who don’t mind cucumber said this one was okay, not their favorite but drinkable at least. Well, if they’d give you a large straw for drinking the blueberries!
Rating 6/10
Vampire Mickey Bread from Mortimer’s Market
I can’t really rate this because well it’s good and super cute of course but it’s also a just a loaf of sour dough bread that looks like Mickey. I don’t think you need me to tell you what it’s going to taste like so just decide if you need vampire Mickey bread or not.
Chipotle Chicken Drumstick Box from Poultry Palace
I’ve always really enjoyed the regular drumsticks from Poultry Palace and these Halloween chipotle ones are a really good variety for people who want a little added spice and heat to their meal.
They were too much for me (I’m not a spicy person) but my siblings both really enjoyed them!
Rating 7/10
Halloween Milkshakes at Schmoozies
There are two different milkshakes at Schmoozies this year – a coconut and taro shake that looks like Ursula and a Mickey Mouse chocolate mummy shake.
We were split on who liked which one most, so I’ll just say that both are worth trying depending on what flavor profile you prefer. They were both well made, had a beautiful presentation, and had really good flavor.
I’ve had some so-so milkshakes from Schmoozies but these were both very good.
Taro Rating – 6/10 & Mummy Rating – 7/10
Disneyland Halloween Churros
Churros get their own section in my post because there are so many different Halloween churros to try. Luckily, there were only two new ones but still – there are churro options on pretty much every corner!
Also, I didn’t give the churros a rating because here’s the deal – churros can often be delicious or destroyed based on how well the churro is cooked. If the flavor combinations seem interested to you, try it out.
Maleficient Churro from Sleeping Beauty & Town Square Churro Carts
The Malificient churro aka chocolate cookie crumble churro is one of my personal favorite churros because it tastes different than just a normal churro. Add it to the peanut butter dipping sauce that’s available here as well and this one’s a winner!
If you like peanut butter and chocolate together, make sure to try out these Disney Butterfinger cupcakes too!
Matcha Chai Madness Churro from Churros at Hollywood Land
This was a weird combination for us. Pistachio, matcha, chocolate sauce and almonds all together was just hard to make work with so much going on. Also, the churro itself just wasn’t cooked very well so it was a miss for us.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Churro at Cozy Cone 1
This churro had so much potential with things that we all love – peanut butter sugar, Reese’s Pieces, and chocolate sauce. And I don’t know if we just got a poorly cooked churro or what, but it just wasn’t great. I’d rather eat my Reese’s Pieces cookies any day.
Poison Apple Churro from Senor Buzz Churros
This was the favorite out of all of the churros that we tried during our most recent visit. The apple coating was sweet, the churro was well cooked, and granny smith icing was tart enough to complement the sweet churro.
This one is a returning churro for a reason and I hope it sticks around.
Pumpkin Spiced Churro from Willie’s Churros
If you’re one of those pumpkin spice loving people, this churro might be for you. I personally don’t love the combo of the pumpkin flavor, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and icing together. But I know there are people out there who love it so it’s worth a shot. if you really like pumpkin!
Green Apple Churro from Churros Near Buzz Lightyear
A classic churro gets rolled in a sweet and sour green apple sugar (that I personally loved by the way) and served with a caramel dipping sauce. This was an easy yes for. me last time they had it (drizzled with caramel instead of as a dipping sauce), and I’m glad they brought it back.
Bride & Groom Churros at the Churros Near Haunted Mansion
You can either choose to get a classic churro dressed in vanilla and sugar (bride) or dark and milk chocolate (groom). Both are tasty, but I prefer the dark chocolate one. And if you want to get really fancy, you can get them with strawberry sauce and wedding cake crumbles on top!
Disneyland Halloween Food at Vendor Carts
There are a bunch of things that you can find throughout both parks in outdoor vendor carts. They get their own section because this year there are two standouts that we personally think are a must-try!
Ghost Pepper Turkey Leg
The first is the ghost pepper turkey leg. It’s a standard Disneyland turkey leg (delicious on its own) but then it’s been dipped in a ghost pepper sauce.
This one is big enough to easily share and if someone doesn’t like the ghost pepper sauce, they can still enjoy the inside because it really doesn’t taint the inside at all.
This was one of the only things in the parks my nephew gave a 10 and my brother was still craving at the end of the day. And they both said it was the best turkey leg they’d ever had!
Rating 9/10 (but only because it’s super messy to eat)
Garlic Cream Cheese Bread
This was one of the first things we tried in the parks and surprisingly delicious. The combination of the savory garlic flavor with the sweet cream cheese was perfect and we easily could have eaten another one of these if we weren’t eating our way through everything on the Halloween food menu!
Rating 9/10
Pickle Enchilado
I don’t even know how to describe this other than to tell you that my sister called it the pregnancy pickle (because it was like a bunch of pregnancy cravings all at once).
A pickle coated in a spicy seasoning and put into a container with Japanese peanuts (that my brother loved) and sour gummy worms made for a really weird combo, but no one hated it.
Rating 5/10
Candy Apple Cotton Candy
Disney has made some really good cotton candy in the past. This is not one of those and on our just skip it list. It tasted more like burnt caramel than a candy apple and that’s not a good thing.
Rating 3/10
Halloween Treats at Bakeries in Both Parks
There are a handful of treats that can be found across both parks and those are included in this section. I can’t guarantee they’ll all be found at every bakery listed below but I definitely saw them in multiples, so they’re included here!
Places to look for these treats:
- Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure
- Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff in Disney California Adventure
- Pooh’s Corner in Disneyland Park
- Candy Palace in Disneyland Park
- Marceline’s Confectionary in Downtown Disney (not in the parks)
Bat Cookie
You can find this cookie at Jolly Holiday Bakery, Market House, The Coffee House, and Red Rose Taverne so pretty much most of the park!
I liked how cute this cookie was but that it also tasted a little different than the big thick Mickey ear sugar cookies. It was soft and flavorful and something I’d eat again.
I did have problems with the chocolate decorations getting all over my hands but nothing a little hand washing didn’t fix. It didn’t make my top ten list simply because it’s not that unique, just another Disney sugar cookie. But they keep bringing it back every year so people must like them!
Rating 7/10
Halloween Marshmallow Wand
If you like marshmallows and caramel, you’ll like this. It’s two marshmallows coated in caramel then covered in chocolate and Halloween colored chocolate.
Rating 7/10
Halloween Rice Krispy Treats
There are two Halloween rice krispy treats this year – a Minnie Bat cereal treat and a ghost cereal treat!
Both rice krispy treats are good, but if I had to choose one rice krispy treat to get, it would be the Minnie bat one though because the dark chocolate is something newer for Disney, and it was delicious!
Rating 8/10
The ghost one was decent as well for a chocolate dipped rice krispy treat, but it wasn’t unique – just cute. If your kids prefer white chocolate (or don’t like chocolate and you want to pretend it’s not chocolate), they’d probably like the ghost.
Rating 7/10
Halloween Cake Pops
There are three fun Halloween cake pop options this year – a dark chocolate Minnie with a bat bow option, a Lotso cake pop, and a Mickey pumpkin cake pop.
The Minnie cake pop was delicious, likely again because I’m a big dark chocolate fan. My nephew and brother who don’t love dark chocolate preferred the vanilla Lotso one.
Rating 8/10 (if you like dark chocolate)
The Mickey pumpkin cake box is a pretty standard vanilla cake pop but it sure is cute! This may be the best option out of the three for someone who just wants a standard vanilla cake pop.
Rating 7/10
The final one is the Lotso cake pop and it’s a little different than the others because it had big marshmallow ears, so it’s a little more complex than the others.
I personally didn’t love it but my brother and nephew preferred the Lotso one to the dark chocolate one so it’s again, all just personal preference. Pick the one that you’ll enjoy the most!
Rating 6/10
Disneyland Caramel Apples
There are a bunch of different types of caramel apples available this year but there’s only one that you have to try (if you haven’t before) and that’s the apple pie caramel apple.
The apple pie caramel apple is covered in caramel (obviously), with a white chocolate layer that’s sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. It’s topped with two marshmallow ears and the bottom half is covered in graham cracker crumbs.
It was so good I decided I had to make a copycat apple pie caramel apple recipe so I could enjoy it at home!
I brought this one home to my family and wish I’d gotten more because they devoured it.
Rating 10/10 (other caramel apples are a 5/10 for me)
If you’re going to get a cute caramel apple, get the apple pie one. It’s cute and tastes great.
If you don’t like white chocolate, the brand new Minnie bat candy apple is a good option as well with its dark chocolate coating and sugary sprinkles. I enjoyed it a lot more than traditional Disneyland caramel apples. But I’d still choose the apple pie one every time I had the choice.
Halloween Cookies
Disneyland sugar cookies are always a safe bet, and I saw a variety of Halloween options available this year. The purple spiderweb cookie is always one of my favorites, but I’m sure the candy corn option is good too!
Rating 7/10
Halloween Cupcakes
I didn’t even see these on the Disneyland Halloween treats menus anywhere but when I saw them in Pooh Corner, I knew I had to try them. Unfortunately they were all just basic cupcakes. One is vanilla, one is chocolate, and one is pumpkin spice.
There’s nothing special about them – they’re just cute.
Rating 5/10
Tasty Halloween Treats at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel
The yummy treats don’t stop in the parks! Once you’re done in the parks, these Halloween eats are worth a quick stop into Grand Californian Hotel!
Donuts from Craftsman Bar and Grill in Grand Californian Hotel
There are two donuts returning to Craftsman Bar and Grill this year – a mummy donut bar glazed with white and dark chocolate (slightly different than the picture below) and a pumpkin donut decorated with Halloween colors.
I’ve had both of them before and while I prefer the pumpkin one, I don’t necessarily think either are worth seeking out unless you really want something cute to eat!
Rating 6/10
Halloween Treats at the Great Hall Cart in GCH
This year all of the carts on the Treat Cart are back to Halloween themed and they include some of my personal favorites from years in the past! Although I was really missing the Oogie Boogie donuts from last year – those were huge hit!
Oogie Boogie Cookie – this has been one of my favorite cookies in past years! It’s an apple flavored cookie with caramel in the center and delicious. There’s a different edible sticker on the front this year, but it’s the same cookie!
Rating 8/10
Gingerbread Pumpkin Cookie – this was a little thinner version of the typical Disneyland gingerbread cookie but still the same delicious flavor!
Rating 8/10 (I prefer the normal thicker gingerbread cookies!)
Apple Crumble Loaf Cake – the top of this with the caramel topping was delicious but the rest of it was just okay. I would probably skip this one and just make my apple cake at home instead.

Halloween Cookie Box – there are three types of cookies in the box – a sugar cookie with sprinkles, a chocolate M&M cookie, and a chocolate dipped jam filled cookie. The sprinkle cookie was okay, the other two weren’t great. It’s pricey and definitely not worth it in my opinion.
Rating 4/10
Poison apple cookie – this is just a standard Disneyland sugar cookie topped decorations to make it look like a poison apple. It’s cute but nothing spectacular.
Rating 5/10
Spooky pretzel sticks – while these are tasty, they’re just dipped pretzels and nothing special. I’d skip and make these Halloween pretzels at home instead.
These are the ones from a few years ago – the ones this year are decorated slightly different, but they’re the same thing.
Rating 6/10
Macarons – this was a box of six macarons and probably the biggest waste of our money of all of the treats at the Great Hall Cart. The macarons were cute (and the box itself was awesome) but they were pretty flavorless. It’s not even a great gift to take home to someone unfortunately.
Rating 4/10 (but really a 3 because they’re pretty expensive too!)
Halloween crisped rice treat – there were regular ones and then there was a chocolate one. Skip the chocolate one, it’s pretty gross in our opinion.

Disneyland Halloween Treats to Skip
I go to Disneyland for the food. There is so much good food to eat that there’s no reason to spend your money on things that aren’t worth the cost – unless you’re like me and want to try everything and write about it.
So in total authenticity, these are the Halloween foods I tried that I personally would skip if spending money on a round two. I just included a list here – you can go back up to the reviews above to see why we’d skip these!
- Box of Cookies, Box of Macarons, Chocolate Rice Krispy Treat from Grand Californian Cart
- Cucumber jalapeno lemonade from Cozy Cone Motel
- Candy apple cotton candy from outdoor vendor carts
- Fire truck slush from Cozy Cone Motel
- Mickey Jack-O-Lantern Macaron from Jolly Holiday Bakery
- Caramel Apple Cheesecake from Jolly Holiday Bakery
- Pumpkin Cream Puff from Rancho Del Zocalo
- Iced Hot Chocolate from Rancho Del Zocalo
- Graveyard Funnel Cake from Stage Door Cafe
- Almond Tart from Edelweiss Snacks
- Pumpkin Stuff from Red Rose Taverne
- Butternut Squash Flatbread from Red Rose Taverne
- Pickle Enchilado from outdoor vendor cart
- Spiced Bundt Cake from Jolly Holiday Bakery
Disneyland Halloween Food Items Not Reviewed
There were a handful of things we didn’t try for one of three reasons – either it’s something we don’t eat (coffee, tea, etc.), it’s something that wasn’t available when we weren’t there, or it just didn’t say Halloween to us in any way shape or form. I didn’t need to go eat a bunch of chicken tenders that didn’t have a Halloween slant to them.
- Pear blackberry cheesecake crostata from Jolly Holiday Bakery
- Trick or Treat Mix (literally just candy, marshmallows, and pretzels) from various locations
- Halloween candy mix-in at the popcorn cart near Haunted Mansion – a mix of candy corn, M&Ms, and chocolate covered pretzels you can get mixed into your popcorn. They said this typically sells out in the morning so if this is a must-have for you, get it early.
- Philly Potato Dog at Refreshment corner
- Utundu Chicken at The Tropical Hideaway
- Hoopla Wrap at Bengal Barbecue
- Mango-Habanero Chicken Strips from Flo’s V8 Cafe – I haven’t been impressed by Flo’s spicy chicken strips in the past so we skipped these ones.
- Mickey Waffles from Schmoozies – I was just confused about why these were a Halloween option but Mickey waffes are delicious so might be worth a shot!
- Villanous Double Cheeseburger from Smokejumpers Grill
- Asian Inspired Spicy Pork Tacos from Studio Catering Co.
- Ghost of Anaheim burger from Galactic Grill
- Acai Blueberry Smoothie from Galactic Grill
- Spicy Chicken Cordon BOO from Red Rose Taverne
Insider Tips for Eating all the things
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as I’ve tried out all of the food items at Disneyland, it’s some tips and tricks to save time and money! These are my favorite tips to make it easier, especially as all the Halloween festivities bring the crowds!
- Mobile order to save time. I mobile ordered nine out of ten of the places that we went, and it saved me time nine out of ten times. There were a few misses (looking at you Flo’s) but in general mobile ordering can save you tons of time – giving you time back to spend doing other things!
- Order inside if something isn’t available on mobile order. 95% of the Halloween food items were available via mobile order but a few weren’t. For those, you can still typically get them – just go order at the regular counter.
- Share. Many of these items come in large portions or are rich enough you’re not going to want to eat the entire thing yourself (or maybe you are). I love to take my family or friends and share a little bit of everything with everyone so you can enjoy as many different things as possible!
- Get your seasonal treats early. While they may not sell out fast, they do sell out. There were definitely a couple of items that we couldn’t get because they were already gone!
