And with up to forty unique cards available, there’s enough that everyone can play – kids, parents, and even grandparents! Just print out the cards and you’re on your way to a super fun birthday bingo game!
Birthday Bingo Game
My two boys love bingo. We play Christmas bingo, Halloween bingo, and Easter bingo pretty much every year. What can I say, we’re a bingo fam!
But this year they really wanted to play bingo for their birthday party, so I made up these simple birthday bingo cards that you could use all year round, not just as the holidays!
I grabbed some cute birthday images like a birthday cake, some birthday gifts, and other things you might see in a birthday celebration and used them to make the perfect birthday party game for the big day!
How to play birthday bingo
If you’ve ever played a typical game of bingo, this printable game is going to be very similar. Using the birthday bingo cards is just a fun way to make it more birthday themed rather than a generic bingo board!
Prep the Bingo Game
Start by printing out however many bingo cards you need. You can download twelve free cards at the bottom of this post or if you need more cards, you can get up to 40 unique cards in my shop.
I recommend printing on sturdy cardstock paper so they don’t get ripped or destroyed easily.
Or if you think you might use these again (like a teacher might play this for every birthday!), then I recommend printing the cards and laminating them to use over and over again! We do this and just have the kids use dry erase markers to mark the spaces off!
Recommended Laminator
I have this laminator and these laminating pouches that I use all the time. They’re super easy to use and work great!
Cut out all of the images from one of the calling sheets (keep the other one intact) and put them into a bag, bowl, or something else you can randomly choose them out of. Then give everyone a bingo card and some markers and you’re ready to play!
For markers, I have a bag of these bingo markers I use all the time and love. But you can use anything else you want to – Cheerios, M&Ms, dried beans, pennies, etc. I don’t recommend using the bingo daubers (dot markers) unless you’re only going to play once because they ruin the cards.
Play Birthday Bingo
When you’re ready to play, have everyone first mark off the free space with a marker.
Then choose one of the images out of the bowl and show it to everyone (or just describe it). Everyone should mark it off where it is on their card with a bingo marker.
Keep going – calling out images and marking them off – until someone gets five in a row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal are all good) on their game board and calls out bingo.
That person wins a prize! I have lots of different fun birthday themed prizes at the bottom of this post!
Then you can either have everyone clear their boards or keep playing until you have a certain number of winners before everyone clears them of and starts again. Continuing on until a certain number of people win is a fun way to speed up birthday bingo because more people bingo more often.
Alternate Bingo Options
If you don’t want to play traditional bingo, I have some fun options that you can use instead. With my family, we typically switch it up regularly to keep things interesting! Or you can just play the traditional way of this birthday themed bingo game and that’s totally fine as well!
Just make sure everyone knows the rules and doesn’t think you’re playing the classic version of bingo or it could be a mess!
- Four corners – cover all four corners on your card
- Postage stamp – cover any four spaces together in a square (postage stamp) on your card.
- X – cover all the spaces going both ways diagonally to make an X
- T – cover the top row and the middle row to make a T
- Cross/Plus – cover the middle horizontal row and the middle vertical row to make a plus sign
- Friendly Free – mark off all of the spaces touching the free space
- Biggest Loser – we do one of the above PLUS whoever is the last person to get a marker on the board gets the first prize
- Bring a Friend – whoever bingos gets to choose a friend to bingo with them a choose a prize (this works best if you have lots of people/prizes)
- Play until – If someone hasn’t won yet, play until that person bingos
- Blackout bingo – for the last game of the night, play until someone covers their entire card to get a blackout!
Birthday Bingo Prizes
If you want some really fun ideas for birthday themed prizes, try one of these! Or you could always make prizes some of the favorite things of the birthday guest of honor – those make fun prizes for this printable game too!
- Punch balloons (or any other balloon themed prize)
- Cupcake bath bombs
- Birthday cake scented candle (this works best for adults)
- Gifts cards in the amount of the birthday guest
- Packaged birthday treats like these chocolate sprinkle cookies, these birthday cake blondies, or these rainbow donuts
- Birthday Squishmallow (or other stuffed animal) – they also sell packs of the minis at Costco that would work great!
Fun Prize Idea!
Another really fun prize idea that we’ve done in the past is to make a punch game (like this Christmas punch game) and fill each of the cups with prizes. Then when someone gets a bingo, they get to punch out a cup and win whatever is inside! We did this with mini squishmallows for my son’s 4th grade class, and it was a huge hit! Makes getting a bingo even more fun!
