Thanks to Expressions Vinyl for partnering with me on this post to create fun Hunger Games ideas! While I may have been provided compensation and/or free product for this post, all ideas and opinions are 100% honest and my own.
Are there any Hunger Games fans out there or am I the only one who can’t wait for the new Mockingjay movie to come out? So excited in fact that this past week I went a little Mockingjay crazy and designed Hunger Games shirts, setup my own Cinna Styling Station, created Hunger Games inspired party games, and even put together an entire Hunger Games party table. And watched Catching Fire and read Mockingjay again. Yep, just a little crazy, but it’s all going to be worth it as I show you all of these fun ideas.

You may not know it but before I started Play. Party. Pin. I actually wrote a book review blog called Book Nook Club. I was an avid reader until I got pregnant with K, and now that time I used to spend reading is spent sleeping or blogging. That being said, I still love books, and I love it when my favorite books are turned into movies.
Unless the movie is like Twilight and awful. I’m still waiting for them to redo the first one because it was that bad. And Rob Pattinson, seriously?
Anyway, so I love books. And movies. And going to see those movies with my friends or family on opening night. With Mockingjay coming out in just a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to do a three-post series (told you I like series) with three great Hunger Games ideas – DIY Hunger Games shirts, Hunger Games party ideas, and Hunger Games party game ideas. And I’m starting today with those shirts I keep talking about. Make sure to check back all week long for more fun ideas.
Rather than actually making shirts for all of my friends, I thought it would be fun to setup a Cinna Styling Station where they could actually make their own shirts. First, I used red indoor vinyl to create a sign on the wall. Then I set out my laptop with four different design options, three colors of shirts, my Silhouette, and heat transfer glitter vinyl from Expressions Vinyl in white, blue, red, and gold. Everyone could choose their shirt color, shirt design, and vinyl color to make a shirt that was uniquely theirs, just like Cinna makes costumes for Katniss that are perfect for her.
Amazingly enough only a couple of people (my two sisters) ended up with the exact same shirt and the rest are all a little different. And all perfect to wear to the movie premiere on November 22nd. I do have to say though that the Stay Alive design is easily my favorite. I really just love the combination of the gold glitter vinyl on the black shirt.
If you have a Silhouette or other electronic vinyl cutter, these shirts are a cinch to make, especially using the free cut files I’ve provided for each of the designs. All I did was cut out the vinyl using the designs (already flipped horizontally for you) then ironed them onto the shirts. Seriously, easiest craft ever. If you have questions about the designs or are having issues with any of them, feel free to email me.
