My Favorite Holiday Punch
As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I’ve made it my mission to always serve some sort of fun and delicious signature drink that everyone can drink at my parties. And with Christmas being one of the biggest times for parties, we’ve made a lot of Christmas drinks over the years!
We’ve done everything from this kid friendly Grinch punch to what we call yummy Christmas punch because it’s so good! Just this year we’ve added a new gumdrop punch (inspired by Whoville) and a red Santa Claus punch!
I originally created this holiday sherbet punch recipe back in 2014 and even with all of those others, it’s still one of my go-to holiday punch recipes every single year! The combination of the cranberry and raspberry flavors together are just absolutely delicious and there’s just something about adding raspberry sherbet to punch – it really does make everything better!
If you want an even stronger flavor, you can even try it with a little cranberry flavored ginger ale they have out during the holidays! It’s one of my favorite combos!
Ingredients
Ingredient notes
- Raspberry sherbet – I recommend using sherbet and not raspberry sorbet because sorbet tends to be a lot tarter, not as sweet as sherbet. If you want a punch that uses raspberry sorbet, this raspberry punch is great!
- Cranberry juice – I highly recommend using as close to 100% cranberry juice as possible or if you do get the cocktail (because they tend to be cheaper), go with something that has as few other flavors as possible!
- Ginger ale – you can use either regular ginger ale or I’ve tried this with the seasonal cranberry ginger ale, and it’s great. I do no recommend substituting it for a lemon-lime soda, we tested that out and the flavors just don’t mix the same way. If you only have Sprite or 7Up, I recommend making this Thanksgiving punch instead.
- Almond extract – you can omit this if you don’t have it or if you have concerns about nut allergies, but it really does warm this punch up and give it a delicious holiday flavor.
How to make Holiday Punch
This holiday punch is so simple to make! If you can pour liquids, you can make this simple kid-friendly sherbet holiday punch!
1 – Combine the Ingredients
Pour all of the ingredients other than the sherbet into a large punch bowl or pitcher.
It really doesn’t matter what order you add them in as long as they all get added. Once they’re all in there, mix well to combine all of the flavors.
If you’re planning to serve this later, put the punch bowl in the fridge and allow it to chill until just before you’re ready to serve. If you’re serving it immediately, move onto the next step!
2 – Add Sherbet and Serve
Right before you’re ready to serve this holiday punch, add scoops of sherbet right on top and mix it in slightly but not so much that you totally get rid of all of the scoops!
Those little chunks of sherbet are some of my favorite parts of this punch!
Garnish the punch with fresh cranberries and orange slices if desired for a prettier look and a little extra punch of flavor (or just stick with the sherbet).
Serve in glasses with fun Christmas straws for the most festive and delicious holiday punch! This would be so delicious with our frosted cream cheese sugar cookies or our sugar cookie bites!
Recipe FAQs
Can you make this punch ahead of time?
You can totally make this punch ahead of time! Combine all of the ingredients, other than the sherbet, and put it in the fridge to chill until just before serving. Right before serving, add your sherbet and any garnishes you’d like to include.
Can you keep leftovers?
You can definitely keep the leftovers if you want to! The sherbet will have melted into the punch, but it actually just adds a nice creamy flavor! The leftover version is often my favorite. Just put any leftovers into a pitcher and chill for up to a week.
