Ingredients in oreo snowmen
Ingredient Notes
- White melting wafers – use good quality chocolate if you can. I prefer Ghirardelli white melting wafers, but go ahead and use what you’ve got.
- Double stuffed golden Oreos – For this snowman Oreo recipe, we’re using the vanilla flavored Oreo cookies to match the white snowman theme. However, since they’re covered anyway you can use any Oreo flavor you want.
- Black pearls – I just used round black pearl sprinkles for the eyes and mouth but again, you could switch these up with any sort of small black candies or even candy eyes!
- M&Ms – you can totally substitute these with your favorite round colorful candies like Skittles or even Sixlets!
Recommended Tool
If you dip things in chocolate very often, I highly recommend this Wilson candy melting pot. I have one pot (and two inserts) and use them ALL the time. They’re so much more convenient than a double boiler or melting things in the microwave!
How to make No Bake Oreo Snowman
This Oreo snowmen are super easy to make! It’s as simple as dipping them in chocolate then adding all of their snow day decorations!
1 – Melt the Chocolate
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, then set them aside.
Start by melting the white chocolate melting wafers using your preferred method from the list below.
Ways to Melt Chocolate
Melt the chocolate using a double boiler – Place a double boiler or a heat safe bowl over top of a pot filled partially with water. Place the entire thing on the stovetop and turn the heat to medium-high. Add your chocolate directly into the heat safe bowl and allow the water to heat up, heating your chocolate the same time. Stir until melted.
Melt chocolate in the microwave – place the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and stir then place back in the microwave and heat again for 10-15 second increments, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted.
Melt in a melting pot – place the white chocolate in the Wilson melting pot and turn it on. Stir regularly until the chocolate is completely melted.
2 – Dip the Oreos in Chocolate
Place a golden Oreo onto a fork and dip it into the melted white chocolate wafers until fully submerged, making sure the chocolate completely covers the Oreo. Gently tap the Oreo to the side of the bowl making sure to tap any excess chocolate off the side.
After each Oreo has been coated in white chocolate, carefully place it onto the parchment lined baking sheet.
3 – make the snowman face
Immediately after adding the Oreo to the baking sheet, it’s time to add its face (so the chocolate is still soft).
Place two sugar pearls on top of the Oreo for eyes. Then use the orange tic tac for the nose and place it into the center of the Oreo. Finally, place four to five sugar pearls under the tic tacs to create the smile.
Tip!
If you have small food tweezers, this is the time to break them out! You don’t have to use them but if you have them, it can make adding the little items onto your Oreo snowmen so much easier!
4 – Make the snowman’s earmuffs
Add a two inch piece of sour punch straw to the top of the Oreos to create the ear muffs. Hold them in place while the chocolate melts harden a little if you need to.
After the sour punch straws are on, add one M&M to each side of the straps.
Repeat with all of your Oreos using different colors of Sour Punch Straws and M&Ms to make a whole little community of snowman cookies!
5 – Finish the Oreo Snowmen
Place the baking sheets into the fridge to let the chocolate set for 10-15 minutes. Once they’re set, they’re good to eat right away or you can store them for up to a week in an airtight container!
And if you have extra Oreos and chocolate (after you make all of the snowmen you want), you can always just decorate them with other fun holiday sprinkles!
Expert Tips & Storage Information
Make these with whatever you have on hand! Most things will work for the face decorations – just use the candies and sprinkles you have on hand! You could even use cookie icing to decorate them if you really want!
Try other Oreo flavors. Use mint Oreos, peanut butter, or the classic Oreo cookie. Mega stuffed would also be a great option. I just recommend staying away from Mini Oreos because well they’re just too small to fit anything!
Keep these chilled or at room temperature (as long as your room isn’t too warm) to keep the chocolate set!
Recipe FAQs
How far in advance can I make Oreo Snowman?
Very! These can be made about 2 weeks in advance and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. Although, I’m pretty sure they’ll be eaten long before that.
Can I use white chocolate chips instead of melting wafers?
You can use white chocolate chips but make sure they’re high-quality ones because the cheap ones just don’t melt well. You can also use white almond bark. Good quality Ghirardelli melting wafers are my favorite because I find they melt nice and smooth in the double boiler and end up with a smooth finish. However, any of the above-mentioned will work.
Can I use the microwave instead of the double-boiler?
Yes. You can melt the chocolate however you want, and I’ve outlined three different simple methods above!
