Printable Valentine’s Day Card Game
Raise your hand if your mind is all Valentine’s Day right now? Or is that just me? Maybe it’s because my son’s classroom party is today (we played this Valentines Day bingo game) or because I’m still trying to come up with a creative gift for my husband that can beat this date night deck.
Who knows but my mind is definitely focused on all things red, heart-shaped, and sweet!
This Valentine’s Day card game is a family-friendly game that’s kind of like Apples to Apples met Cards Against Humanity (minus the mature adult audience part).
It’s simple enough. Put out a question/statement – everyone puts down one of their cards that could be the best answer, and the person whose turn it is picks the best one.
The fun part? They’re all Valentine’s Day themed in some way! And one of my new favorite Valentine’s Day party games!
Valentines Card Game Supplies
I love games like these because really all you need are the cards! And I’ve got a free printable set of those for you at the bottom of this post!
If you want to amp things up a bit, you could also pick up a couple of these things:
- Laminator (if you want to laminate the cards to use over and over again)
- Laminating sheets
- Scissors (you’ll need to cut out the cards)
- Pad of paper for keeping score – or use these heart tokens
- Prizes of some sort for the winner (but totally not necessary!)
How to Play this Valentines Card Game
Playing is simple, especially if you’ve ever played Apples to Apples. If not, I’ll walk you through it. The printable PDF file you can get at the bottom of this post also has instructions as well.
Shuffle (this is where having the cards laminated would come in handy) the question cards and put them in a pile.
Shuffle the answer cards and give out three to each person playing.
Easy enough so far right?
Pick someone to go first. The first person turns over the top card from the question deck and puts it out for everyone to see.
Everyone other than the person who flipped the question card looks at their answer cards and plays one of their cards (the one they think answers the question best) face down on the table.
Once everyone has played a card, the person whose turn it is flips over the cards one by one and reads them out loud.
They then choose which card they feel answers the question best (or think is funniest or whatever) and that person wins the question card. Or a heart token. Or just a point.
Go around the circle having everyone take turns being the question chooser + winning answer selector.
Keep playing until someone has earned three points (or more if you have less people). That person is the winner!
Play again or move onto playing something like these Valentines minute to win it games.
