This fun and easy sock snowman craft is the perfect craft for a girls night, winter party, or even to make at school! They’re simple to make with just a sock and a few other supplies you probably already have at home!
Begin by pouring rice into the toe of the sock to weigh down the snowman.
1 tube sock, 1/4 c uncooked rice
Stuff the sock with enough filling to reach the ribbed part of the sock. Make sure to add enough filling that the sock is smooth and firm when you gently push on it.
1 bag pillow stuffing
Tightly wrap the rubber band around the sock where the stuffing ends. Then cut off the excess sock close to the rubber band.
1 rubber band
Take the ankle sock and measure and mark four inches starting from the toe going up. Cut off the sock above your mark, discarding the excess fabric.
1 ankle sock
Place the hat on the top of the other sock snowman, covering the rubber band portion.
Using the hot glue gun, attach the two buttons where you want the eyes to go.
2 black buttons
Place a dot of hot glue where you want the nose to go, then gently push the orange toothpicks in, stacking them together to form a triangle.
3 orange toothpicks
Take a black pipe cleaner and tightly roll it into a swirl, stopping after you have gone around the center one time. Then cut your mini swirl with scissors or wire cutter. Repeat this until you have four mini swirls.
1 black pipe cleaner
Hot glue the four pipe cleaner swirls onto the face of your snowman as the smile, making sure to hot glue the end so they don’t unravel.
Take one of your colored pipe cleaners and tie it around the snowman’s neck to act as the base of the scarf. Secure with a dot of hot glue.
3 colored pipe cleaners
Cut another piece of the pipe cleaner (the same color) into four pieces. Attach two of those pieces to the scarf wrapped around the snowman’s neck to look like the ends of the scarf.
Then finally, make a large swirl with another same colored pipe cleaner, cut off any excess pipe cleaner, and glue the swirl on top of the two short pieces of the scarf to finish it off.
Repeat these steps to create as many snowmen as you want!
Notes
One small bag of stuffing should be enough to make a handful of snowman. I didn't include specifics because it'll depend on the size socks you use for your snowman, but you'll need at least one small bag of stuffing. Use various-sized socks to create a snowman family.Use up excess craft supplies by switching up materials, such as using old fabric for the scarf.Adjust the amount of rice if using various-sized socks. Larger socks will require more rice and smaller ones less. You want about an inch of rice in the bottom to keep it stable. To make sure the sock stays tied off hot glue the excess fabric after the rubber band.
